1. What is the BOWBUG? |
|
|
The BOWBUG is an RF Game Recovery
System designed to AID the bowhunter in the recovery
of mortally wounded game. It is NOT intended to promote
or encourage marginal shots. It is the hunter's responsibility to
ensure good shot placement. BOWBUG is not intended to
replace traditional means of tracking mortally wounded game
animals. |
|
2. How does the
BOWBUG work? |
|
|
Once the magnet is removed and the transmitter is shot the BOWBUG
transmitter sends out a pulsating signal every second which can be
picked up through the BOWBUG directional antenna and receive. Once
the signal is heard simply sweep the antenna in a 360 degree sweep
and follow the strongest direction of signal to your game.
|
|
3. Will the
BOWBUG fit on any bow set up? |
 |
The BOWBUG will fit all archery setups. The only alteration the
archer may need to do is lengthen his/her arrow depending on the rest
style. |
|
4. Where does the BOWBUG attach? |
|
|
The BOWBUG attaches
directly behind the broadhead on the arrow shaft. |
|
5. Does the BOWBUG stay
attached to the arrow? |
|
|
No, upon impact the BOWBUG
attaches itself to the animal and detaches from the arrow.
So regardless if your arrow passes through or not, the BOWBUG
stays attached to the animal. |
|
6. Will the
BOWBUG affect the arrow flight? |
|
|
The BOWBUG has shown to improve the flight of the arrow in some
cases through the
weight forward concept, thus adding additional weight to the front
of the arrow maintaining 9 to15% weight forward for hunting arrows
giving the arrow better flight stability as does adding a paper
clip to the front of a paper plane. This small addition of weight
also gives the arrow more kinetic energy upon impact. |
|
7.
Will my bow sights need to be adjusted for the BOWBUG? |
|
|
No adjustment will be required for
bows shooting over 250 fps at yardage up to 30 yards. After
30 yards sights may be adjusted accordingly by adding the practice
weight. |
|
8.
What is the range of the BOWBUG? |
|
|
Although terrain as well as game laying on top of the BOWBUG has
shown to effect the average range of actual hunting conditions
should be expected around 150 yards. |
|
9.
What is the battery life of the BOWBUG? |
|
|
Batteries once installed with the magnet off and the transmitter
running you have 130hrs (5.5 days) of continuous life simply place
magnet on the transmitter in the correct location to turn system
off to reserve your hours for recovery. |
|

BOWBUG transmitter a one time use? |

|
If the transmitters are still completely intact after use,
yes the transmitter may be reused. |

eventually fall out with minimal effect on the animal. |
|

Transmitters
or Practice Transmitters NOT staying attached to your arrows in
flight |
|
|
1.
Store your unit in a dry cool place as heat can
cause your attachment bands to loose their elasticity.
2.
Do not leave transmitters attached to your arrows
for a long period of time as they will loose their elasticity.
3.
Ensure you are using two bands one on the front of the
transmitter and one on the back.
4.
You may add a small drop of a quick drying adhesive
such as Super Glue with the bands or with out bands as this will
ensure good penetration of the transmitter into the animal ( This
works very well as the adhesive will easily bust loose from a
slick surface such as graphite or aluminum ) |
|
18.
Transmitters are not penetrating into the game |
|
|
1.
This may be caused by a slight elevation of the
transmitter on the tip or the arrow due to set up.
2.
Bands may have lost their elasticity,
Contact your
local distributor for replacement bands

20.
Signal is too loud and can not locate Transmitter |
|
|
1. Transmitter
signals are extremely strong at close ranges this is needed to
penetrate thick brush, foliage and the game lying on top of the
transmitters at long ranges. The system is designed to get you
within 30 to 60 feet of the game, at that point use caution, don’t
trip over your game!
2.
In the event the transmitter is lost on the ground
get as close as possible with the receiver and antenna, determine
the area to be scanned. Then unplug the antenna from the back of
the receiver and wave the unit 6” above the ground in the
predetermined area, be patient this may take time. |
